Hey Cutmdown,
In the area you were fishing, my understanding, the water was murky by day. Most eyes were up high poised to attack, this is why a lot of radio chatter indicated ripsticks and husky jerks were taking fish. In my opinion, I am not a fish or a biologist, but when the water is murky the eyes are in tune to this and are able to easily ambush their prey. East of the Vermilion river, the water was a bit clearer. They eyes during the day were deeper.
The night bite from a boat, fishing myself, I have noticed around 7-8 pm the eyes are about 5'to 8' down, then after 8pm they are high 3' to 4' down.
We picked up fish east of the new condos and off the west wall of Lorain.
In closing, the fish where you were gorged by day and were satisfied come late pm hours. The fish where we were folowed suite to the above explained postition in the water.
I hope this helps and makes sense, just my opinion. Take care, Bait Dave We might be out tonight,79, call Bait Dave, we can trade data.
PASS THE FUN OF FISHING ON! |
