Hey everybody was wondering if I could get some advice from you trolling guys. Im trying to get all my reels spooled up with some new line and was wondering what test some of you guys run. I was thinking about 10 or 12 pound mono to run jets and dipsies off of with a flourocarbon leader. Do any lines hold up better? Is 12 pound too thin? Was probably going to use Berkley Vanish 12 pound for the leader but not sure about the mono. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I am also looking to purchase the Garmin Etrex for GPS and to gauge speed, has anyone used this model before? Thank you in advance.

Hey Brick,
I can tell you what I prefer is the 30lb test powerpro. This has an 8# diameter. It is soft, unlike fireline which is like wire.
At the shop we sell an equal amount of Fireline 20# versus the Powerpro Braided spectra "Moss green" 30# Link:http://www.walleyetacklestore.com/pobrsp1ydbus.html
Make sure you use "leader" flourocarbon, the filler spools don't have the memory you need to hold a knot and is not designed for such a use. Seagar leader material is very popular in the 20# test.Link:http://www.walleyetacklestore.com/sefiliflle20.html
I hope this helps.
Not familiar with the unit you are looking at, but I do know lowrance's website allows you vertual use of the unit online, real cool to play with prior to buying a unit.
Garmin may have the same features on their site as well.

Take care,
Baitdave
